Is Automated insulin delivery cost-effective for type 2? A recent study co-authored by GCDTR’s member Roy W. Beck published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, evaluated the cost-effectiveness of the t:slim X2 insulin pump with Control-IQ+ technology compared with multiple daily injections plus continuous glucose monitoring (MDI/CGM) in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Key findings: Control-IQ+ produced 0.51 additional quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) compared with MDI/CGM over a 50-year simulation The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) was $59,417 per QALY, below the commonly used $100,000/QALY threshold In sensitivity analyses, 89% of simulations produced ICERs below $100,000/QALY, and all scenario analyses remained under that threshold Read more: lnkd.in/eaf844cx
