Comparing continuous glucose monitors: accuracy matters A new Diabetes Care study by GCDTR’s @Roy W. Beck evaluated three leading CGM sensors such as Dexcom G7, Abbott Libre 3, and Medtronic Simplera, used simultaneously. Key findings: G7 and Libre 3: Nearly identical results for time-in-range (70–180 mg/dL) and tight-range (70–140 mg/dL) Simplera: Substantially overestimated time-in-range due to a consistent negative bias compared with blood glucose values Implications: Apparent differences in outcomes of automated insulin delivery (AID) systems may reflect sensor-specific bias, not true glycemic improvement.
These results underscore the importance of using consistent, accurate sensors in clinical studies and raise the need for reliable, blinded CGMs to ensure fair evaluation of devices and therapies. Read more: lnkd.in/gSUACTMV
